Rosalind Glazer, is an outstanding rabbi who is engaged in revitalizing a serious liberal Judaism for our time. Her gifts, talents and great resourcefulness give her a flexibility that benefits all those whom she serves. She is a model on the pulpit and in the classroom. An inspiring and dynamic teacher and an enthusiastic and sensitive leader she also has an exceptionally clear and beautiful singing voice. She is an inventive and creative educator of youngsters, adults and families of exceedingly diverse backgrounds. From the innovative workshops she brought to our Bar-Bat Mitzvah program to our collaborations on the pulpit, I was continually struck by her energy, dedication and ability to win over those who have theretofore had little exposure to or experience with Judaism and Jewishness. I cannot praise or recommend her highly enough! – Burt Jacobson, Emeritus Rabbi, Kehilla Community Synagogue, Piedmont, CA

Each time I hear Rabbi Rosalind Glazer sing, I fall in love with her over and over and over again!- Cantor & Composer, Linda Hirschhorn, VOCOLOT, Oakland, CA

Rabbi David Bauer, Rabbi Rosalind GlazerRabbi Rosalind Glazer is one of the most magnificent service leaders I know. Her strength and presence are of the very rare sort that genuinely carries a congregation through worship. She achieves this in such a way that a congregation’s own acts of prayer remain undiminished, but participants can allow themselves to rely and repose on her voice and leadership. Rabbi Rosalind’s innate musicianship is impeccable and intuitive; and her voice expresses the naturally expansive generosity and power of her spirit.  She is the rabbi I would most like to have lead me in prayer. – Rabbi David Dunn Bauer

TESTIMONIALS FROM ENTHUSIASTIC CONGREGANTS

My husband and I knew Rosalind for several years, most specifically as the Rabbi of Beth Israel Judea, San Francisco. Her warmth, kindness and knowledge attracted and inspired us to greater participation and our engagement in the synagogue became an important part of our lives. We came to learn Torah with her and each service she led was a joyous occasion of song and study. Most important for us, we were able to bring our severely disabled grandson and she always made him so welcome. We will never know whether he understood what it meant to be a Jewish boy at a Shabbat service, but he certainly felt the warmth, spirit and sense of community that she instilled. -Barbara, San Francisco, CA

Rabbi Rosalind Glazer co-led our congregation on the High Holidays for four years. After her first year, when asking for feedback, I received a resounding mandate from the entire congregation to rehire her again and again. Rabbi Rosalind has a wonderful and warm spirit. Her joy on the bimah is contagious and enthuses everyone in attendance. Her singing voice is fantastic but she does not make you feel like an audience. Her voice and spirit encourages all to join in. If ever you’d like to discuss our synagogue’s High Holiday experience with Rabbi Glazer, please be in touch. – Larry Kalvar, Congregation Beth Elohim, Rockville Centre, NY

Henry Lipman, Rabbi Rosalind Glazer TestimonialsRosalind Glazer served as our Student Rabbi for one year, but our Temple’s Board of Trustees agreed that she was among the best student rabbis to have served us in the last 25-30 years. We could not have asked a leader to do more. She took a great deal of initiative, was creative in her service leading, was spiritually and intellectually motivating, and her relationship with the board officers and community members were among the strongest I’ve observed in my history with the congregation. Rosalind was also easy to work with from both a leadership and administrative standpoint. We recommend highly her and thank the college for providing us with such an excellent and well qualified rabbinical student. – Henry Lipman, Past President, Temple Bnai Israel, Laconia, NH

I was President of our congregation when we brought Rabbi Rosalind Glazer aboard. She was the unanimous choice of our Search Committee because she was bright, energetic, sincere, committed, devout, warm, enthusiastic and had great charisma. Three years later when she stepped up to a larger pulpit our congregation suffered a great loss. Rabbi Glazer was throughout her period of service, everything we originally thought her to be. She was highly innovative, sparking great interest and excitement in the congregation AND her singing voice is exceptional.  She was a “find” for us and will certainly prove to be one for you. – Barry Bornstein, Temple Beth Shalom, Brigantine, NJ

Before attending rabbinical school and while she was still at our congregation Rabbi Rosalind and I would get together just to talk. She was the Bar/Bat Mitzvah Coordinator, and I, a young member of the community, served as Gabbai on the High Holy Days. Once, I was facing great indecision and Rosalind shared some words of wisdom that I have never forgotten.  Rabbi Rosalind is a unique combination of lightness with grounding, insight with deep feeling and love of Torah with genuine appreciation for all the world’s spiritual practices with a shared goal of a better way of living in this world.  She shines, she enthuses, she sings…oh, does she sing!  I truly have nothing but words of praise for her. So if you have a chance to meet Rabbi Rosalind for counseling on matters big or small or for Shabbes services, she is someone that you’ll remember. – Victoria, Kehilla Community Synagogue, Oakland, CA

My husband and I were shul shopping near our home in San Francisco and when we walked into BIJ the first time, we were warmly and wholeheartedly welcomed by Rabbi Rosalind Glazer. We were moved by her exceptional leadership and teachings and I joined her training to become an adult bat mitzvah. Until then, learning  to chant Torah was something about which I had only dreamed and it was a life-changing experience!  The Rabbi and community support during my husband’s illness and passing confirmed for me that I had finally found a spiritual community and home.- Robin Wiburn-Woll, Beth Israel Judea, San Francisco, CA

I thoroughly enjoyed having you lead us these past High Holidays as did our entire congregation and board. You found a way to support our clergy and you also brought your own spirit to our congregation. Everyone here is disappointed you won’t be with us again for the coming year. We will miss you and wish you all the best. – Alan Zucker, President, Temple Beth-El, Poughkeepsie, NY

We were so delighted with High Holiday services. The separation between the rabbis and congregation was eliminated with all the participation and interaction. It made us feel deeply connected to you and to the whole community. Rabbi Rosalind brought so much besides an amazing voice; a radiant smile, lots of positive energy and a deep knowledge of Judaism. Thank you! – Karen and Charlie, Beth Elohim, New York, NY

Rabbi Glazer is a wonderful spiritual leader. She has an amazing singing voice that draws everybody in and encourages everyone to sing along! Her Sacred Hebrew Chant & Drum Service at Beth Israel Judea created a community of folks who gathered monthly for joyful and uplifting prayer through music, movement and meditation.  She blended a variety of musical styles and prayers that appealed to a broad cross section of the community. At each event she made a special effort to greet everyone individually so all would feel comfortable and included. – Jeff, San Francisco, CA

WORDS FROM APPRECIATIVE PARTICIPANTS

I thoroughly enjoyed Rabbi Rosalind Glazer’s Shabbaton and I am still integrating what I learned. Forever transformed by her services I will never experience Shabbat the same again. Her voice, her boundless good energy, her kind soul and wisdom will always be with me. Rabbi Glazer touched my heart so many times. When I didn’t have goosebumps from her singing, she brought tears to my eyes with her kavvanot (teachings). The way she integrated drumming with the singing was amazing. The rounds and the chants were magnificent and her beautiful Melaveh Malkah Havdalah service taught me so much.  I have become a huge fan and can’t wait to attend another of her services when I will bring along more of my family and friends! She is not to be missed! – Ilona,Etz Chayim Palo Alto, CA

Tov Me’od!  Rabbi Glazer’s songs were a great complement to our Erev Shabbat service and they brought back memories of the great Jewish music sessions at my childhood summer camp.  She is a warm and bubbly person who lights up a room and she certainly brought a ton of Ruach! I loved it! – Julia, Student, Connecticut College

On our first trip to Israel my husband and I traveled with our 4 y.o. daughter.  On Shabbat in Jerusalem, we joined Rabbi Rosalind Glazer and members of our synagogue group for services at Kehilat Zion. Afterward she hosted us for Shabbat dinner. A gracious and warm hostess, Rosalind was immensely warm and inviting, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the conversation flowed so freely that I felt as if I’d known her a long time. Our daughter was exhausted from the travel and Rabbi Rosalind went out of her way to make her comfortable.  After the delightful meal she escorted us back to our hotel. Without a doubt, Shabbat with Rabbi Rosalind Glazer was a trip highlight! – Dana Schal, Jackson, MI

Rabbi Rosalind Glazer, Rabbi Nina Mandel

During our two weeks in Israel, I was fortunate to see many breathtaking places. However, Shabbat dinner in Jerusalem with Rabbi Rosalind Glazer was a different kind of beautiful. That Friday night was infused with a beauty that came from knowing I was home in a place I’d never been before, sharing an intimate meal with people I’d probably never see again. There was great warmth and acceptance in the prayer, song and laughter. It was very special night that I will never forget.- Hasana, Student, Susquehanna University

I had the good fortune to meet Rabbi Glazer at our synagogue Shabbaton. I loved her stories and could have listened for hours. She brought  vivacious enthusiasm to all her presentations, along with her wonderful voice. When checking our her blog I enjoyed reading what her mother had said about her great-grandfather’s likely response had he known she became a rabbi. With her travel tales and beautiful photography it is clear that Rabbi Glazer is a leader of many talents, a gift-of-gifts.- Carol, Palo Alto, CA
